In the past, commercial activity in the area was mainly related to industrial activities and some small retailers but commercial activity has greatly increased since the 2000 Olympics. A number of businesses such as the Commonwealth Bank, Fujitsu and Westpac have established offices within the Sydney Olympic Park which employ a significant number of people. The area is now viewed as an evolving business hub with potential for substantial growth. Recent commercial development has included many small unit complexes to meet the needs of the growing office market.
